Account Manager (Waste)

ESS Utility is a specialist energy consultancy with over 15 years of experience helping education, healthcare, leisure and commercial sectors control their energy and utility budgets through our expert guidance.  

We are a trusted Energy Savings Specialist acting for all utilities including commercial electricity, gas, water and one of the only consultancies offering cost management for waste refuse collection. 

We are looking for a new Account Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Customer Relationships, this role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of new and existing client accounts, ensuring customers are engaged with ESS services and waste products. 

Energy savings for headteachers and bursars

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Maintain and develop new and existing client relationships, optimising quality of service and customer satisfaction 
  • Manage product/service mix, pricing and margins according to agreed commercial targets 
  • Monitor and receive information on market activities and provide relevant reports and information to clients 
  • Business development including contract renewals, selling of additional services, bringing in new sales leads, responding to and following up on sales enquiries 
  • Management of customer engagement. Ensuring each customer is engaged with ESS waste products and services 
  • Providing monthly reports to ESS customers in a timely manner demonstrating completed collections and service provision 
  • Provide management of waste contractors ensuring a high standard of service is provided to ESS customers 
  • Managing credit requests for failed service provision and reporting to our customers 
  • Develop and on-board the waste product offering with key partnerships from the waste industry 
  • Providing Ad-hoc support when required to the team in various tasks 

Key Skills and Competences:

  • Essential: 
    • Experience within the Waste industry 
    • Experience in client account management  
    • Knowledge of the various waste supply market with specific experience of leading the delivery of services 
    • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels 
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written 
    • Strong sales and negotiation skills to upsell and introduce new services and packages to existing clients 
    • Commercially astute 
    • Able to resolve queries and disputes with clients and suppliers 
    • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills with good attention to detail  
  • Desirable: 
    • Knowledge of Salesforce 
    • Full UK driving licence 
    • Previous experience working with waste providers 
    • Experience of working with multi-site accounts or in the public-sector space
